As a Business Analyst and Requirements Engineer in a Scrum team, I supported the Product Owner with epic and feature refinement as well as coordination with the business units. The project language was mostly English.
Projects:
Increase of customer self-service in the portals: To relieve customer service, the level of self-management for contracts, customer master and billing data in the customer portal and via the M-net hilft app was increased. The login was also secured using Keycloak and a second factor.
Order flows: Various new features were added to the existing order flows. This included creating a process for special discounts and implementing data collection and exchange mechanisms with expansion partners like Telekom.
Data protection topics: Design of the overall architecture for a system for secure customer identification, overall concept for an email verification system, concept and data model for a central system to manage contacts, and concept for implementing consumer protection according to TKMOG.
Product catalog: Creation of a unified, company-wide product catalog to avoid duplicate maintenance. The design, modeling, and configuration of this catalog as well as the analysis of all business processes were part of the task. The interfaces are based on the TMF standard.
Design of an IT-supported process in order management: Development of a process to inform affected customers about the gradual shutdown of old copper lines by TELEKOM (TAL connections) and to provide information on alternative connection options.
Tasks:
Analysis responsibility for various cross-system initiatives, creating the solution concept and architecture.
Epic and feature refinement and writing user stories.
Analyzing the impact of new requirements on business processes in the business units and the IT systems.
Coordination and alignment of the required measures across all stakeholders, both internal and other external service providers.
Participation in the development of a future authorization concept for the customer portal using Keycloak with extended user registration options.
Data analysis on the Oracle database with SQL.

Loyality Partner Solutions (End customer: Deutsche Bahn Long-Distance)
Further development of the DB loyalty program. The management of BahnCard contracts and the Bahn-Bonus program at DB Long-Distance was refined and tailored to the more individual needs and buying behavior of customers. This required various extensions to the existing applications. In addition, customer management was handed over to another data master (VENDO KTO), for which various mechanisms for bidirectional data exchange were created. A new system became the master for customer master data. For the existing contract management system for BahnCard and Bahn-Bonus, new functionalities for bidirectional synchronization were created. To support migration, inconsistent states that prevented customer deletion were cleaned up to reduce the migration volume. Regardless of the new customer data master, existing loyalty applications were optimized and personalized. In addition, deletion mechanisms for customer master data were developed in accordance with GDPR.

Integration of a group-wide customer master data system (GCDM)
The global group-wide BMW customer master data system GCDM was further developed and integrated into the heterogeneous system landscape. International "customers" like market-specific apps connect to this application for data exchange.
Extensions of the central system were designed (e.g., data model extensions, integration of OpenID Connect, additional plausibility checks and error states).
Connected applications were advised on an optimal strategy (intranet vs. internet, guidance on creating and using email templates via Apache Velocity, use of standard components).
To ensure stability, full interface contracts were emphasized, i.e. an exact description of the integration, the services used, and the data volumes.

Advising customers on the optimal connection to the system.
Configuring the integration of applications.
Functional design of feature extensions, writing feature descriptions and user stories in coordination with the client's requesting departments.

Requirements analysis for and migration to a new CRM system
The 15-year-old, self-developed BMW CRM system "Top Drive" was to be replaced by a modern system (Salesforce).
The goal was to gain a 360º view of the customer and use new technical possibilities for implementing campaigns and optimizing processes in external agencies.
The high-level requirements defined for the new system were detailed to give them a use-case character, taking GDPR requirements into account.
ADOBE Campaign was to be used for campaign management.
Tasks:
Refining requirements for a new campaign management system.
Documenting the as-is processes in the supporting external agencies for running campaigns across different channels.
Functional specification of migration rules.
Analysis of the around 40 interfaces to be connected to the new CRM system, including how they will be integrated and any potential limitations on access rights at the business object level.

Quality assurance of migration for real estate financing software
A bank developed a new system for real estate financing, and existing data was migrated. The migration result had to be accepted by the affected institutions.
Designing and developing reports to ensure the completeness and correctness of the migration.
Coordinating the required evidence for acceptance with the affected institutions.
The acceptance criteria were defined together with the client, based on errors found during migration and a comparison of source to target data, including a gap analysis.

Creating reports for object comparison, including checking foreign key relationships.

Data and base architecture for a payroll system**
Solution and system design as well as sub-project leadership for a large-scale database migration for a major industry IT service provider.
Migration of a payroll system based on block VSAM processing to DB2.
The goal was to reduce redundancies, fully historized storage and the creation of a payroll archive (DB2) for better management and analysis.
The architecture was made flexible through a metadata-triggered table control of the transformation, making the system almost maintenance-free.
Generators for access modules helped reduce maintenance costs.

Extensible, multi-tenant architecture for a business partner data system**
Solution and system design for extending the central business partner data system after several mergers to meet data protection requirements.
For flexibility, business processes and their sequence were stored as state transitions in a parameter database, which the application uses to control screen flow and validations.
Tasks included reverse engineering of the data model, uncovering discrepancies and model optimization, as well as design and implementation of improvements. (System environment: OS/390, COBOL, DB2, ErWin).
Company-wide replacement of legacy address data**
Consulting and project management for a migration from VSAM to DB2 to reduce data redundancies.
VSAM legacy accesses were replaced in all software systems by accesses to the new operational DB2 business partner database.
Tasks included development of roll-out and fallback strategies, consulting on contingency mechanisms, coordination of dependencies, optimization of accesses, and data analyses and cleanups. (System environment: OS/390, DB2).
Replacement of a business partner data application**
Developed a replacement strategy and project managed to reduce maintenance effort by decommissioning the host application of a C/S and host application.
Tasks included analysis of functional deltas, analysis of business processes, a technical feasibility study, and development of a replacement strategy.

Project management and design of a Lotus Notes–based application to reduce the time from reporting a defect to hardware replacement for field agencies. Tasks included designing the user interface and data structure, and managing the external implementation vendor.
Central software distribution processes**
Project management and process modeling for a system for automatic software distribution to field agencies. To ensure a fast and secure restart after outages, precise operating processes, especially for problem management, were defined. Tasks included defining processes for problem and change management and delivering training. (System environment: ADONIS, MS Project).
Building a server farm for the intranet**
Project management and process modeling for connecting independent field agencies to the intranet via a server farm in the DMZ. Because of the security-critical position, high importance was placed on security management processes. Tasks included defining operating processes (problem, change, security management), setting service level agreements, and designing control mechanisms and training.
