Win11 Local Rollout Manager

Hansewerk Group (E.On)

  • The Hansewerk Group (a subsidiary of E.On) is planning the upgrade of its PC inventory from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
  • At the same time, core technical components are being changed. These include the software distribution from Microsoft SCCM to Intune and sign-in to Azure AD.
  • Around 2,800 PCs are migrated as part of this project.
  • The migration is carried out by our corporate IT providers, either by reinstalling the existing machine in place or by replacing it.
  • The external consultant performs the following tasks as part of the assignment:
  • Administrative coordination with the providers on the required software packages.
  • Reviewing the lists provided by the providers and aligning them with the affected business units.
  • Organizing tests of the newly scripted software packages in collaboration with the business units and providers.
  • Selecting and naming the staff responsible for testing in coordination with the affected business units.
  • Arranging dates for software acceptance between the named business unit representative and the providers.
  • Documenting and storing the business unit's approval form.
  • In case of issues, the project team member follows up and escalates them with the providers.
  • Rollout planning at site and department level and carrying out the rollout: no more than half of the employees at any site or department may be migrated at the same time.
  • The WAN capacity of a site must be taken into account when scheduling rollouts; the amount of data to be transferred must not overload the connection.
  • The choice of user rollout dates depends on the software packages available at the time of the rollout; a user's rollout may only take place if all needed software packages are available on that date.
