Win11 Local Rollout Manager

Hansewerk Gruppe (E.On)

  • Hansewerk Gruppe (a subsidiary of E.On) is planning to upgrade its PC fleet from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
  • At the same time, core technical components are being updated, particularly software deployment from Microsoft SCCM to Intune and sign-in to Azure AD.
  • About 2,800 PCs will be migrated as part of this project.
  • Our corporate IT providers carry out the migration by either reinstalling the existing machine in place or swapping it for a new one.
  • As the external consultant, I perform the following activities under contract:
  • Administrative coordination with providers on required software packages.
  • Reviewing provider-submitted lists and aligning with affected business units.
  • Organizing tests of the newly scripted software packages in collaboration with business units and providers.
  • Selecting and naming test-responsible staff in coordination with the business units.
  • Scheduling software acceptance meetings between the appointed business unit representative and the providers.
  • Documenting and filing the business unit’s approval form.
  • Tracking and escalating issues to providers when problems arise.
  • Rollout planning at site and department levels, and execution of the rollout: never more than half of a location’s or department’s staff may be migrated at the same time.
  • Considering a site’s WAN capacity in scheduling to avoid overloading the connection with rollout data.
  • Scheduling user rollouts depends on availability of required software packages; a user’s rollout can only proceed if all needed packages are available on the rollout date.
