My impact:

  • Putting OneFootball on the map - shifting the company narrative from local German start up to internationally recognised football industry powerhouse with scale
  • Owning the industry narrative - ensuring the relatively complex company story was simply positioned, crystal clear and widely understood across the industry
  • Joining up the story across all touch points - being the trusted, go-to person internally for all aspects of communication, company strategy and company/ brand positioning
  • Safeguarding the reputation - managing complex messaging, uncertainty and industry-wide speculation during a febrile time with shifting business strategy, financial uncertainty and executive change

My role:

  • Quickly established trust with all stakeholders, navigating the announcement of the business's Series D fundraise within days of joining
  • Became the trusted, go-to partner internally for all aspects of communications
  • Rolled out an inside out employee-first communications strategy, with high visibility across the business
  • Anchored the company's first offsite for 500+ employees in Berlin in first 100 days in the role
  • Rapidly built a small but effective in-house communications team
  • Onboarded external agency partners to provide international, multi timezone and language functions across key markets - US, LATAM, Europe & UK - for the core business and its new Web3 venture
  • Acted as the CEO's trusted advisor, his voice and ghost writer for thought leadership, speeches, presentations and key notes
  • Provided similar support for the wider executive team and other senior leaders
  • Provided crisis management support for a range of challenging topics and issues
  • Supported the executive team on all aspects of change, during two business model shifts

My impact:

  • Shifted the narrative - taking WeTransfer from being positioned as a very cool, design-led tool to an invaluable global advertising platform and suite of tools for the creative industries
  • Delivered belief in value of corporate communications - resulting in the communications function shifting from marketing reporting line into the CEO as a stand alone department
  • Joined the dots - driving the communications aspect of the IPO process with all external and internal stakeholders ensuring the project delivery milestones were met
  • Establishing belief with employees - building confidence with employees that during a period of transition, without the option for full transparency, that the company values and culture would remain through the period of change

My role:

  • Set up corporate and financial communications function to support planned IPO
  • Quickly established a position of trust with all stakeholders as I built the department
  • Worked closely with all insiders and external partners on the planned IPO
  • Prepared and executed external and internal communications strategy, navigating complexity, confidentiality, multi-layered sensitivities and changing timeframes
