Project Manager Fiber Network Development FTTH FTTX

As the construction manager for FTTX/FTTH network expansion at Westnetz, I was heavily involved in the supervision and control of the project. From the start, I was involved, together with the project manager, in selecting the general contractor (GC) responsible for the network expansion in Dortmund and Unna.

• Supervision and coordination
• Monitoring the construction work by the GC and its subcontractors.
• Ensuring that the construction work meets contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
• Identifying and addressing deviations by making appropriate recommendations to the GC.
• Using a digital documentation solution to record construction logs and site inspections in real time on site.
• Developing complete project documentation for seamless traceability of all construction phases and progress.
• Using specialized software for surveying and analyzing routes to capture exact construction progress and provide a precise overview of the entire project.
• By using IT-supported solutions, I ensure that all relevant project data is always available to make informed decisions.
• Supporting the selection of optimal POP locations for network distribution.
• Developing a structured project management system that makes the entire project development transparent.
• Analyzing and evaluating the best-constructed areas, especially in Unna, where 80 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure were successfully completed in less than a year.

Thanks to my experience in IT and construction management, I was able to automate key processes, ensuring efficient and error-free capture of all construction progress. This enables optimal project control and precise delivery of data and analyses to the entire team.

• Site supervision & quality assurance – Ensuring compliance with technical requirements, schedules, and safety standards.

• Coordination of project stakeholders – Liaising with municipalities, municipal utilities, energy providers, and network operators.
• Managing and supervising GCs and subcontractors for smooth operations.
• Ensuring timely material delivery and resource planning.
• Documentation & route management – Using digital route surveying and documentation tools to precisely track construction progress.
• Preparing construction logs, inspection reports, and billing documentation for complete records.
• Conducting site inspections and reviewing as-built documentation.

My responsibilities included monitoring, coordination and quality assurance of civil and structural work in collaboration with international partners, general contractors and subcontractors.

• Reviewing safety guidelines and implementing international construction standards.
• Coordination & project management: Collaborating with architects, engineers and subcontractors for smooth project execution.
• Coordinating with Qatari authorities and FIFA inspectors to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Monitoring material deliveries, site logistics and infrastructure works.
• Technical implementation & infrastructure: Leading civil engineering works for stadium foundations and underground utilities.
• Overseeing structural framework, roof structures and façade elements.
• Implementing state-of-the-art cooling, lighting and security systems in the stadium.
• Actively contributed to the on-time completion of Al Bayt Stadium by November 2021.
• Efficiently coordinated international construction partners and local subcontractors.
• Ensured the highest quality and safety standards in accordance with FIFA and international building regulations.
