Freelance Technical Editor and CE Coordinator

I am a freelance Technical Editor (M.A.) and CE Coordinator. I mainly work for documentation service providers and direct clients in mechanical and plant engineering.

My work as a Technical Editor covers the entire process of documentation creation, maintenance, and delivery: from the first kickoff meeting, through content research, document creation, and translation management, to the final submission of documents. To ensure maximum legal security and valid results, I conduct targeted project-related research on documentation-relevant standards, guidelines, and laws. Examples of documents I have created include operating, assembly, and software manuals, as well as online help and infographics.

My role as a CE Coordinator involves developing a risk assessment based on Annex I of the Machinery Directive (and other annexes depending on the project). I gather the essential requirements from the applicable standards, directives, and laws, and create all the necessary documents (risk assessment, nameplate, declaration of conformity). The CE compliance process is team work, so I work closely with all involved departments.

In projects, I work in a very structured way and always strive to standardize processes, data creation, and data maintenance so that I can achieve optimal results within reasonable time. I follow a process-oriented approach where transparency and measurability, as well as meeting deadlines, are top priorities. To stay close to the product, I collaborate with all development and execution teams and independently gather the necessary information. My work is theory-driven but always practical, with an eye for detail. I am a power user of common authoring and illustration tools and aim to enable maximum automation across software and make life easier for colleagues by providing simple and self-explanatory template documents.

My strengths are mainly in text editing, creating layouts, template documents, and graphics, modularizing content, and visually presenting complex topics. In addition, I have extensive experience in researching guidelines and standards. I am capable of creating technical documentation and CE documents in compliance with relevant standards, guidelines, and target groups, and I can cover all workflow steps. If desired, I can also support quality management and contribute a lot of know-how. My strengths here are in defining processes as well as setting up the required documentation and maintaining the QMS (keywords: process maps, fillable and signable PDF forms, job descriptions, etc.).
