Mechanical Engineer & Project Manager

BHS Corrugated

Mr. Johannes Stahl, born 28.05.1986 in Neustadt a. d. Waldnaab, living at Köflmühlstraße 26, 92648 Vohenstrauß, was employed from 01.04.2016 to 30.04.2019 in our company as a team member of the Digital Print department, responsible for the mechanical development of the new digital printing system. At the start of development, he contributed his in-depth knowledge of printing machine structure as well as process-related aspects of web transport. In this role as mechanical engineer, he was responsible for the subprojects web pretreatment and supply technology. He also led the planning for installing the prototype system in the plant, which required modifications, foundation work, and adjustments to the hall perimeter to ensure the assembly.

In September 2017, Mr. Stahl took over the team leadership of our Digital Print development group with 14 employees. His tasks included assigning tasks and projects, resource planning, and coordinating between departments and with suppliers. By introducing weekly status meetings, he was able to track project progress within the team and define further actions.

From August 2018, Mr. Stahl was appointed overall project manager for the steadily growing development project. He began implementing the Quality Gate process to successfully guide product development from prototype to series-ready machine. This was based on a newly structured project framework and a quality management system to assess the required product maturity.

Other tasks of Mr. Stahl included:

  • Creation of assembly concepts
  • Design of machine assemblies
  • Design of assemblies including interface coordination with other disciplines
  • Specification of supplier components and selection of vendors
  • Interface clarification and discussion of design details with suppliers
  • Support for assembly work and commissioning of the prototype system
  • Preparation of project plans and cross-project schedules, including milestone planning
  • Project tracking – comparing plans with actual progress (target/actual comparison)
  • Establishment of an overall project management system

  • Monitoring and controlling quality (milestones), effort, cost, and schedule (project progress)
  • Standardization at component and assembly level
  • Managing customer-specific projects and adjustments within technical specifications.

Mr. Stahl has extensive and versatile expertise, which he applied confidently and purposefully in practice. With his quick grasp of issues, he found effective solutions that benefited us.
