The previous role naturally evolved towards manager and I continued to head the RF team
I hired and managed more people and led the RF design in projects
SATCOM Phased Array Project: It involved the full RF aspects of the project. The feed network, radiating elements and the liquid crystal panel design. I held the critical role as the sole technical interface to the manufacturers. I led the calibration and testing campaigns. I always remained hands-on in simulations and measurements.
Transparent 5G Phased Array Project: I spearheaded the architecture design of the transparent array, coming up with a novel layout for the phase shifters, feed network and radiating elements such that adequate gain was achieved but the antenna still remained transparent.
LC based RIS feasibility project: I co-supervised a feasibility study of LC based reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) in collaboration with Technical University Darmstadt
This role involved activities for commercializing the LC based phased array antenna
PoC of LC phased array: the role was very multidisciplinary with extensive simulations for antenna and feed network design at Ka and Ku bands
I am an RF/antenna engineer having designed, fabricated and measured several antennas, both in single and array configurations. In particular, I have worked on passive phased array concepts using two of the most popular materials i.e. Barium Strontium Titanate(BST) and Liquid Crystals(LC). I have gained unique experience of conceptualization, design and measurement (calibration) of antenna elements and feed networks for liquid crystal based phased arrays for satellite and 5G communication. My latest experience is that of unique ultralight manufacturing technology for aerospace grade waveguide components.
