ERP Data Migration Analyst (Contract)

Working on a “Proof of Concept” project to advise on update of existing data into a new data warehouse using Azure.

Working on a new data warehouse and BI / MI Reporting, SQL coding new and amending existing stored procedures, other db objects, ETL using SSSIS, SSRS, Power BI, SQL Server 2016, Visual Studio 2019/2022, TFS, SSDT, SSMS, MS Office 365, Teams, Solarwinds.

• Aldermore Bank is moving their data warehouse application from an internal datacentre to one provided by a third party.
• SQL development services in support of the DWH move project.
• SQL application development service to support the project team and ensure that all existing coding can be operated in the new environment and produce similar output.
• Work with the DWH1.5 project team to move DWH code from existing instance to new datacentre instance, including migration of databases, SSIS packages, SSRS reports and SQL config.
• Ensure ETL jobs are operational providing the same outputs as current instance.
• System test new instance.
• Using GitHub, Visual Studio 2019, SQL Server 2019, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI.

• Working with internal stakeholders and consultants to migrate source mainframe data through OLTP databases into an SAP software environment.

• Facilitating the migration of employee data from two existing Oracle databases to a new Fusion HR and payroll system when RBS created a new bank.
• Analysing existing systems, mapping data to new SQL 2012 databases and creating data extracts to import into the new system.
• Generating globally unique identifier and lookup tables to support the data import, using multiple data sources including databases, flat files and spreadsheets.
• Leading the reconciliation between systems and between multiple testing and live environments, and porting historic data.
• Generating a mail merge system to enable employees to elect benefits under the new payroll system and to ensure their existing data was correct.
• Using SSIS to manage multiple dependencies in source data and the need for data validation, transformation, control and error trapping.
• Designing a primary SSIS package to control around 400 smaller SSIS packages to handle the extract, transform and load process, which was completed in 20 minutes.

Successfully completing a short-term contract to migrate five databases from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012 using SSIS, functions and stored procedures.

• Implementing SQL 2008 for ad hoc object creation, troubleshooting and administration.
• Creating and populating a dimensional data warehouse schema using SSIS, OLAP cubes using SSAS and SQL Server Reporting Services reports using SSRS.
• Tackling complaints received from the Financial Conduct Authority regarding the misuse of customer data by amalgamating marketing data from 10 companies into one database, thereby enabling calls to be regulated in line with contractual agreements.

• Designing a new data warehouse solution for roll-out across 25 companies, to overcome problems with inaccuracies and inefficiencies in the existing solution and also to enable use of Cognos for reporting.
• Creating a proof of concept using SSIS reusable code and building quality assurance into the process.
• Developing a data model in ER Studio, with 120 scripts to create the new database schema, which were used as a basis for SSIS packages.
• Working effectively and flexibly both from home and from national and international offices.
• Creating an end-to-end model of the new business data warehouse.

• Configuring two SQL 2005 Servers on site for the Universities Superannuation Scheme, collaborating with internal and external development teams to support a Microsoft Office SharePoint installation.
• Liaising remotely with the management at Citigroup to analyse the current server farm and recommend changes to performance, design and security, writing code for monitoring and reporting, redesigning legacy processes to archive and purge unnecessary data, prepare for an upgrade to SQL Server 2005 and cover UAT roll-outs.
