As Logistics Manager, I was responsible for the operational development of a structured and efficient logistics system. My focus was on continuously optimizing workflows within the facility.
As team leader of a group of 50 employees, I was not only responsible for planning departure times and locations for our drivers, but also for coordinating deliveries and operations at our sites, especially in Darmstadt and the surrounding area.
Close collaboration with our central warehouse was part of my daily tasks: including direct receipt of goods from various suppliers, ensuring food quality by following strict quality control measures, maintenance and inventory of our stock, and organizing our local fleet of electric vehicles.
Additionally, direct and constant communication with customers, employees, and customer support was always a top priority to ensure customer and employee satisfaction.

Project: Software procurement (CRM, HRM, ERP, Web shop)
To optimize internal processes (business and work processes as well as specialized procedures) and thus enable the work of around 4,400 employees across 9 locations, as well as nationwide mobile work, several projects and programs were initiated. This included preparing and conducting a request for expressions of interest to modernize and possibly phase out the current IT landscape with innovative and industry-leading solutions.
As a core working group member, I was responsible for preparing and executing the entire process for the R-areas (especially sales - RV) to introduce a new system landscape (CRM and AVM, HR delivery, web shop, supplier and contract management, accounting and controlling, ERP).
Project: Cloud Portal (OZG, EfA)
The Cloud Portal initiative was part of Dataport's efforts to provide a clear solution for implementing the legal framework defined in the Online Access Act (OZG) for administrative digitalization. Compliance with the OZG had to be ensured. Furthermore, the maturity level of previous developments had to be determined: specifically, to what extent the current internal cloud strategy not only meets the legal and technical requirements of NOOTS (National Once-Only Technical System) and connects to the EU OOTS (EU Once-Only Technical System), but also aligns with the 'One for All' (EfA) principle.
As Cloud Portal Manager, I reviewed and reformulated the internal cloud strategy, and realigned it according to new federal-level OZG guidelines and conditions. As Interface Manager, I was responsible for coordinating various external IT service providers and internal departments.

Project name: Development of a new warehouse management system.
Since its founding in 1929, Robert Schmitz is a family-owned shipping company specializing in handling heavy goods. The service profile not only included storage of, among other things, pulp and rolled steel in heated warehouses, but also the delivery of these goods both regionally using tractor units and internationally with ocean containers. To meet the maintenance of stored goods, customs clearance, delivery orders for its customers and clients, and the constantly growing performance demands, a new warehouse management system had to be created.
As a product owner, I partly worked on gathering the requirements catalog. However, I was mainly responsible for analysis, design, documentation, and translating and transferring customer requirements into work packages and tasks. I was also responsible for assigning and monitoring these tasks to developers. This also included preparing customer workshops and parts of customer communication. I also shared responsibility for team leadership in this project.
As tech lead, I was responsible for the technical implementation of these requirements: from designing the user interfaces using mockups to the main development of application modules such as inventory and goods receipt for both desktop and mobile devices. I also took on creating the technical specification.

The company Jysk, known in Germany as Dänisches Bettenlager, is a very successful retail chain in Scandinavia and also in the DACH region. For the newly built high-bay warehouse with about 75,000 storage locations, we were commissioned to develop a new warehouse management system that had to manage all intra-logistics processes of the new facility as well as those of the entire existing warehouse, in order to ultimately replace the old software.
In this project, I was responsible not only for developing new business processes such as goods receipt, quality control, inventory and designing print documents, but also for co-designing the new data model and setting up all storage locations in the system.
Quality assurance of the modules I developed, as well as other modules like planning and picking, through manual and automated tests, was also part of my tasks.
I was also responsible for extending and adapting the entire existing data model for use on mobile devices (PDAs and industrial tablets).
During the final phase, I was on site in Dortmund and also in Nässjö, Sweden with the client to test and commission the entire system (software and hardware). I was also responsible for creating technical and user documentation and test cases.

This covered workflows such as goods receipt, pallet storage strategies (MFS-driven), quality inspection, and outbound management.
These tests also included creating host data via an SAP interface using IDOCs, simulating all work steps at dedicated workstations, and monitoring data state changes throughout the data flow with unit and integration tests.
I was also responsible for adapting the business logic based on new client requirements and delivering these warehouse management processes on mobile devices (PDAs and industrial tablets).
It is also worth mentioning that I completed print documents using ZEBRA printer programming. I was also responsible for creating technical and user documentation as well as bug fixing.
