Torben Beeg is an architectural photographer based in Baden-Baden, Germany. He specializes primarily in architectural photography of commercial, historical, residential and sacred buildings.
Torben Beeg was born on February 1, 1977, in Ottawa, Canada. He has spent his first five years of his life in Canada before moving with his family to Baden-Baden, Germany. This is where he graduated from high-school in 1997vz before he moved back to Canada a year later to study film and theatre at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
His unusual path to architectural and interior photography began in 2018 with the UNESCO World Heritage application by the city of Baden-Baden, for which he photographed the most important sights of this small cosmopolitan city. Thus Torben became one of the chroniclers for this ambitious project.
Torben‘s practice is marked by an acute attention to detail through every stage of the process, from the framing of a shot to the careful retouching of eyesores and imperfections. His images rely on bright whites and graphic composition for visual impact, using soft, natural light whenever possible. During production, he takes a collaborative approach to image-making, valuing the give and take between photographer and client that is essential to him and any successful architectural shoot. The results are precise, natural and narrative-driven images that capture more than just our environment, but also the way we live and work within our surroundings.
Today Torben concentrates mainly on photographing buildings and interiors for architects, interior designers and designer brands, while he pursues other projects in his spare time.
His work has appeared in numerous renowned publications.
