Though formally an organization with only consultative powers, the Council could potentially play an influential role. I took the lead in developing a shared vision for enhancing student engagement by raising the council's profile. In just over a month, we were already working in an atmosphere of lively and productive debate, with minimal ego disruptions; and we are using mostly soft-power and indirect methods to position the Council as a key stakeholder, helping to set the educational tenor of the school, and becoming an influential voice in Education, Governance, and Connectivity.
In this role I joined the board of an alumni association to implement a model of distributed leadership and help align the team with post-Covid changes to the network; I worked with a multicultural family to merge conflicting priorities and value systems; I identified and resolved a long-standing hygiene problem at a local municipality, as well as initiated the relocation of a poorly placed children's park; I assisted an alienated monastic community to reconnect with their heritage practice; and I developed a mathematical framework which promises to resolve a paradox in classical Physics.
This role spanned over 1,500 hours of client communication and coaching in a broad spectrum of marginalized communities: dyslexic, math-phobic, female, and non-native speakers of English. I was responsible for introducing a variety of verbal and quantitative reasoning frameworks, and I developed a peer-to-peer, minimally invasive teaching methodology that both got great traction and yielded best-in-class performance gains.
