ABB Robotics Project

Schipmann Automation

  • Client: Bremen special-purpose machinery manufacturer.
  • Customer: Lighting manufacturer with a factory in Lemgo.
  • Robot: IRB 4600-45kg.
  • Application: Handling of several different workpieces between feed conveyor, machine, discharge conveyor and, depending on the part, XZY palletizing and depalletizing with intermediate layer handling.
  • Special feature:
  • Position detection of the parts by a robot-guided Sensopart camera, which communicated with the robot via PC interface.
  • Search runs during depalletizing to locate parts and the height of the pallet stack.
  • Threading the part onto two centering pins in the machine within a tolerance of <1.5 mm.
  • Client assignment:
  • Complete 3D CAD simulation.
  • Offline programming.
  • Initial configuration on site.
  • Full commissioning of the camera.
  • Profinet configuration to the PLC and the gripper.
  • Commissioning on site and at the customer's.
Attendorn, Germany

FANUC Robotics Project

Schipmann Automation

  • Client: welding system manufacturer in Attendorn.
  • Customer: automotive supplier in Attendorn.
  • Robot: 2x R2000 on a shared R30iB controller.
  • Application: Spot welding with welding tongs as gripper for multiple different parts on two sides of a rotary table, each side equipped with a rotatable fixture tool.
  • Special feature: Configuring and parameterizing both robots, the rotary table, both rotatable part fixtures and both welding tongs (a total of 17 axes) via the robot controller, as well as performing the motion programming.
  • Client assignment:
  • Programming to convert the system to new parts.
  • Implementing optimizations in the capping milling and cap change processes.
Dillingen, Germany

KUKA Robotics Project

Schipmann Automation

  • Client: automation engineer from Hüfingen.
  • Customer: steel plant in Dillingen.
  • Robot: KR 60 L30-4 KS-F as KRC4.
  • Application: Handling of several different workpieces between two drawer inlays (XY palletizing+depalletizing), DMC code camera, Keyence shadow image camera, C-frame laser sensor, DMC code laser, alignment station, fixture for calibrated sample part, NIO sorting drawer as well as a lathe.
  • Special feature:
  • Defining parts of various shapes and lengths by measurement and loading them into a lathe.
  • Over 25,000 lines of code in total.
  • Project duration over nine months.
  • Measurement requirements <1 mm.
  • Measurements were performed exclusively by robot logic.
  • Client assignment:
  • Complete configuration and commissioning of the robot and all associated work areas.
  • After completion of on-site commissioning, writing documentation and conducting a one-week customer training.
Bielefeld, Germany

Siemens TIA SPS Project

Schipmann Automation
