ABB Robotics Project

Schipmann Automation

  • Client: Bremen special machine manufacturer.
  • Customer: lighting manufacturer with a plant in Lemgo.
  • Robot: IRB 4600-45Kg.
  • Application: handling of several different parts between feed conveyor, machine, unload conveyor and, depending on the part, XZY palletizing and depalletizing with intermediate layer handling.
  • Highlights:
  • Part position detection by a robot-mounted Sensopart camera communicating with the robot via a PC interface.
  • Search moves during depalletizing to find parts and detect pallet stack height.
  • Insertion of the part onto two centering pins in the machine within a tolerance of <1.5mm.
  • Customer scope:
  • Complete 3D CAD simulation.
  • Offline programming.
  • Initial on-site setup.
  • Full camera commissioning.
  • Profinet configuration for PLC and gripper.
  • On-site commissioning at the customer.
Attendorn, Germany

FANUC Robotics Project

Schipmann Automation

  • Client: welding systems manufacturer in Attendorn.
  • Customer: automotive supplier in Attendorn.
  • Robots: 2x R2000 on a shared R30iB controller.
  • Application: spot welding using welding tongs as grippers for various parts on two sides of a rotary table, each side featuring a rotatable tool as a part holder.
  • Highlights: configuring and parameterizing both robots, the rotary table, both rotatable part holders, and both welding tongs (17 axes in total) via the robot controller, as well as motion programming.
  • Customer scope:
  • Programming for changeover of the system to new parts.
  • Process optimizations for cap milling and cap changing.

KUKA Robotics Project

Schipmann Automation

  • Client: automation engineer from Hüfingen.
  • Customer: steel mill in Dillingen.
  • Robot: KR 60 L30-4 KS-F as KRC4.
  • Application: handling of various parts between two drawer inlays (XY palletizing and depalletizing), DMC code camera, Keyence shadow camera, C-frame laser sensor, DMC code laser, alignment station, fixture for calibrated sample part, NIO scrap drawer, and a lathe.
  • Highlights:
  • Defining parts of different shapes and lengths by measurement and feeding them into a lathe.
  • Over 25,000 lines of code.
  • Project duration over nine months.
  • Measurement accuracy <1mm.
  • Measurements performed solely by robot logic.
  • Customer scope:
  • Full configuration and commissioning of the robot and all related tasks.
  • After on-site commissioning, write documentation and conduct a one-week customer training.
