To simplify work processes, various workflows are created.

  • automatically searching an RSS feed for suitable projects. The results are stored in an Airtable table. This table is used to monitor the projects and rate them accordingly.
  • created a table in Airtable to record the projects. Based on this table, a workflow was built that reads it and fills a Google Docs template for each entry, which then serves as a basis for a profile. You can also display the profile in a condensed form by applying a filter to the Methods field, for example 'UC4'. This then outputs all projects where UC4 is a topic.
  • a workflow that searches saved web pages tagged #share in Pocket. In OpenAI, the web page is summarized. This summary is generally done in German. The first output appears in a Google Sheet. In the second step, this Google Sheet is read and finally stored in an Airtable table. A link to the results can be generated, which can be shared if needed.

Application in church registration services.

The main task is to take on pending tasks in the DaviP project (church registration services). Within this project, changes must be made mainly in the following areas:

Functions, tasks, and results of the DaviP project:

  • Providing information and certificates
  • Creating reports and statistics
  • Archive management and history
  • Preparation of XKirche
  • User management (authorization management)

XKirche: The OSCI-XMeld standard defines a common language for data exchange in registration services. Messages exchanged between systems then have the same basis. This way, registration offices can exchange data securely and without media breaks with each other, as well as with third parties – even when using different data processing systems. Currently, the church data centers receive files with registration changes from all providers, which are then processed into the existing procedures. From 1.11.2015, these messages will come in XML format.

Took on upcoming tasks for the statewide resident information system DB2. I also supported the migration from LEWIS to KMEWO, especially the migration of any pending XMELD messages. In this project, changes had to be made mainly in the following areas:

LEWIS-BASIS registry. Managing resident data

  • Providing information and certificates
  • Applying for ID documents and certificates of conduct
  • Preparing elections and votes
  • Creating income tax cards and maintaining the master list
  • Creating messaging services
  • Political and postal division of the municipality area
  • Electronic communication with citizens and authorities
  • Creating reports and statistics
  • Archive management and history
  • Supplying portals and other systems
  • Archiving XMELD messages into an Excel process
  • User management

LEWIS-XMELD: The OSCI-XMeld standard defines a common language for data exchange in registration services. Messages exchanged between systems then have the same basis. This allows registration authorities to exchange data securely and without media disruptions among themselves and with third parties – even with different data processing systems. One example is the handover of data for issuing income tax cards to the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) (§39e para. 9 EStG) (OSCI-XMELD (Release D – Chapter 13, Message 0527)). The changes in the applications listed above are based on legal requirements as well as user requirements.

An existing securities application was replaced by a new system. This change was not implemented for all participating banks at once; instead, banks were converted one after the other. The old application used an IMS database, while the new one used a DB2 database.

In every module that included database accesses, these were replaced with calls to a program. The central module first checked whether the bank had already been switched. If yes, data accesses were run on the DB2 database; if not, they were executed on the IMS database. In addition to the code changes, very extensive testing was needed.
