The client wants to document and plan on the ESRI platform the physical cable routes, corridors, and lines of a typical former telecommunications monopoly. Various technologies—copper, fiber optic, and hybrid network structures—are to be mapped. The ideal candidate would be a consultant who has already developed or designed such systems multiple times as a developer and knows most pitfalls from experience. This is not a "simple" pure fiber network but complex structures involving different technologies. The consultant should prevent the internal development team from repeating mistakes that others have already made. This should save time by showing the team the "best practices". Example: The client wants to develop its own model for representing nested cable structures. If a cable corridor lies in concrete, it should be displayed differently than a cable in a pipe in sand. These data are not in the ESRI database but stored externally (MS SQL Server). The consulting should accelerate the process of using this data optimally. Note: This is not consulting on the use of ESRI-based third-party products or plug-ins. The client wants to save the licensing costs of these products and develop a system tailored specifically to them. Environment: The client uses a .NET environment with BLAZER. Development is based on the ArcGIS SDK, and the web functionality is implemented in JavaScript. MS SQL Server serves as the database. Objective: The consulting in the above examples should answer questions or challenge concepts that the client has developed.
