Description
A company is looking for an experienced database migration specialist to migrate an existing Microsoft Access database to SQL Server. The current Access database has size and concurrent user limitations, so a migration is necessary. SQL Server offers greater capacity and improved performance.
The project includes manually migrating the database without using the Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant to ensure an optimal solution from the start. The existing Access database is split into front-end and back-end, with the goal of keeping the front-end functionality and moving the back-end to SQL Server.
- Manual migration of the Access database to SQL Server
- Ensuring optimal performance after migration
- Managing linked tables between the Access front-end and the SQL Server back-end
- Using VPN for remote access capabilities
Requirements
- Experience migrating Microsoft Access databases to SQL Server
- Knowledge of managing split databases
- Familiarity with the benefits and options of Azure SQL Server
- Ability to perform manual migration processes without assistant support
